The family above wasn’t being overly noisy but the walls and the floors are so old and thin. It felt like people were banging on our heads. There was a young family above us and it was so loud. The walls are so thin we didn’t sleep for three nights. The space where the bunk beds were placed was so small you could barely get into the space. The room was not very bright and the furniture old and warm. We paid approx $1000US for a family room. But I would say this is more of a motel than a hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent and the gardens are beautiful. The room was booked for us through a travel agent. I will mention that the valet parkers were great - cheerful, helpful, efficient.… It feels like the owners are just squeezing every penny out without investing in maintenance. It is a pity that they are letting the place run down because the property has tremendous potential, and it is dog friendly. Our two night stay was over $1600 (tax included). The shower is a menace, but I did not bother to report it given the response to my pointing out the other two issues. When you tried to adjust it, the water pressure fell to a trickle. ![]() We later discovered the worst problem - the shower! It provided a scalding or a freezing but nowhere in between. When I mentioned the phone not working, he said you have to press "talk" like I had just time traveled from the 1950's. I said whatever you want to call it, I think you would agree that it isn't supposed to spill water onto the floor. I was told that that my nomenclature was incorrect and that the mini-fridge was actually a beverage cooler. ![]() I called on my cell phone and reported the issues. I tried to call the front desk to let them know, but the phone in the room did not work. The mini-fridge in our room was not functioning which I discovered when I opened the door and water poured out. The hotel has an excellent location and well-tended grounds, but the rooms are not being maintained as they should. After several days, they haven't responded so I am sharing the concerns here to help potential guests. I wrote the hotel an email to share some concerns with them.
